Two things are keeping Shilpa Shetty busy these days her cause-oriented work and li'l sis Shamita. Shilpa recently threw a bash for Shamita's birthday and made sure that everything was just perfect. "It was a great party.
Everyone rocked till the morning," says the leggy beauty. That over, Shilpa is back to her favourite cause AIDS awareness. It all started when she signed Phir Milenge.
"During the making of the film itself, I felt bad for my character Tamanna and the turmoil she goes through and that is when I started thinking about the people who are actually caught in the situation."
A visit to the North-East followed, which further introduced her to gravity of the situation in India. And the result now is this work.
"As an artiste I am heard, and this gives me the opportunity to connect with the grass-root level, the masses. When they see a public figure embracing an AIDS patient or HIV+ person, they realise that the patients are not outcasts."
And does she feel that celebrities, while they might get attention for a cause, also detract from it? "No, not at all. It all depends on the way the celebrity is used for the cause. They make for a value addition."
